Rexnord Aerospace is a growing and profitable company supplying engineered high performance bearings and mechanical seals to the commercial air transport, regional aircraft, business aircraft, helicopter and military aircraft markets for use in engine systems, flight control systems, airframe structures and landing gear systems.  Our aerospace bearing and seal products consist of rolling element airframe bearings and bearing tooling sold under the Shafer® and Tri-Roller® brand names, Teflon lined polymeric bearings sold under the Tuflite® brand name, slotted entry, split ball and split race bearings sold under the PSI® brand name, self-lubricating machinable lined bearings and coatings sold under the Rexlon® brand name and mechanical seals sold under the Cartriseal® brand name.  Our global customer base includes all major engine and airframe OEM’s, as well as major Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers to the engine and airframe OEM’s and through our FAA approved repair station we support major MRO and aircraft operators with repair and overhaul capabilities

 

Brief Description

Successful candidate will implement lean process improvements in a precision machining environment that reduce process variation and improve productivity, as part of the Manufacturing Engineering team.  This position is located in Simi Valley, CA.

Key Accountabilities

Reduce scrap and non-conformances through training and improved process control

Improve sales OTD through training, set-up reduction, and process improvements

Improve estimating OTD through classification coding and standardization

Install and implement new equipment, DISCUS FAI software, and CATIA for process planning and CNC programming

Develop and modify manufacturing processes including process planning, fixtures, cutting tools, gages, programs, special processes, assembly, and inspection

Participate in LEAN initiative and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements

Bring new ideas and positive support to the current process

Implement Strategic Deployment (SD) improvements

Interface with suppliers and internal customers in an effective manner

Assure that manufacturing engineering technical data is complete and accurately documented to provide an accurate technical/historical base for future reference that meet customer requirements

Job Requirements

Job Requirements, Capabilities and Success Factors

BS Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Industrial, Materials Engineering

10+ years experience with most phases of prototype or small batch aerospace precision machining processes including:

Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes and cutting tools

Fixture design

Experience and knowledge of in-process and final inspection tools and methods

CNC CAD/CAM programming

Manufacturing Process Planning utilizing CAD/CAM

Knowledge of special processes

Knowledge of quality management systems (AS9100)

CMM programming is preferred

Cost Estimating is preferred

Ability to perform root cause and permanent corrective action

Ability to perform multi-task management

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong project and team leadership

Experience with CATIA, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, DISCUS, PC-DMIS is preferred

Experience with Lean, Six Sigma is preferred

Experience with low pressure coating injection molding technology is preferred

Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
