Mount Prospect, IL 12/2/2013 Save Job Sign in Now Email Print Report Apply Now Job Description SUMMARY: The Human Resources/Payroll Clerk is responsible for the administrative support of the daily human resources and payroll operations including, but not limited to filing, photocopying, scanning documents, record keeping, processing paperwork, maintaining and updating data, processing payroll, and other administrative duties as needed. The Human Resources/Payroll Clerk reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Compile payroll data which with details such as: number of days attended work, number of hours work, taxes and insurance applicable and any dues that need to be withheld. Include exemptions that employees are entitled for while calculating wages. Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions, using calculator, and posts to payroll records. Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Records changes affecting net wages, for example exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records. Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments. Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers. Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments. Draft office correspondence such as letters and notices and distribute them to the different departments or personnel concerned. Maintain employees’ file ensuring all records are properly documented. Book flight, hotel accommodation and make necessary reservations for HR staff, interviews and guests of the office. Responds to inquiries regarding select processes, policies, procedures, and programs. Create job descriptions and post on job search websites. Screen and set up interviews. Performs pre employment screenings such as drug screens, background checks and reference checks. Assists with new employee orientation and onboarding as needed. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues. Supports administration, coordination, and application of company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices. Job Requirements Associate’s degree is required in business, accounting or related field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. 3 years of combined Human Resources and Payroll experience. Experience in combination with education will be considered. 2 years experience in payroll/HRIS system, ADP is preferred. Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint in a Microsoft Windows environment. General knowledge of various employment laws and practices. Skills in database management and record keeping. Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of management as well as the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
