OUR CLIENT:
 
Our client is a leading global supplier of specialty chemicals and performance-enhancing products for a wide variety of personal care, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, and industrial applications.  They produce hundreds of specialty chemicals, which they market and sell worldwide.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Improve plant production, quality and financial performance through implementation of statistical process improvement programs. Utilize Six Sigma/DMAIC methodologies to analyze data, provide expert coaching, and identify improvements opportunities based on financial, quality and production metrics.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Plant leadership and technical support/statistical data analysis - provide data analysis expertise using statistical tools and methodologies
  • Coach process improvement teams - utilize Six Sigma tools, organize team members, provide leadership and focus
  • Promote statistical process improvement culture and identify key metric to be tracked - provide expert coaching on statistical tools, encourage the use of systematic process improvement, train and mentor plant process improvement leaders (Black Belts) and teach others how to use data to drive decision making
  • Quality Support/Customer Service - provide support for Quality Improvement Programs, presentations, audits, etc.
  • Identify Process Improvement Opportunities - continuous review of plant operations to keep staff focused on key priorities and profitability improvement objectives (PIOs)
  • Coach and provide feedback to process improvement team leaders on effective execution of their roles and responsibilities including project management, action plan follow up, use of six-sigma process methodology, and team leadership performance
  • Provide follow-up/tracking for process improvement accomplishments to ensure that "gains" are sustained. Ensure improvements are "institutionalized" within department/area
  • Coordinate and lead bi-monthly process improvement report-out meetings and monthly report documentation
  • Work with HR and Plant Management to recognize teams and individuals for outstanding performance/contributions as appropriate (newsletter articles, nominations for internal recognition/rewards)
  • Coordinate with HR Education/Training personnel providing focused, problem solving training on six-sigma techniques for process improvement project teams and groups as needed
  • Effectively use outside consultants (QualPro, KT to meet plant and team objectives)
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering
  • 6-10 years of operations experience in a medium to large sized chemical manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated use of quality improvement tools including problem solving, statistical process control and design of experiments
  • Leadership of several successful team-based process improvement projects
  • Demonstrated abilities in statistical analysis and interpretation of production, laboratory and plant test data
  • Ability to train/facilitate hourly and exempt employees
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt: Advanced Six Sigma process improvement training
