Job Description

  • Proposing, specifying, designing, programming, and implementing electrical controls and automation systems for the manufacturing facility.
  • Will perform system evaluations, electrical design and automation system programming support for all plant manufacturing operations.
  • Will interface with corporate management, mechanical engineers, plant management, plant engineering, plant maintenance, production machine operators, maintenance mechanics and external equipment vendors.  
  • Position is responsible for the program startup automation and motion control systems using Allen-Bradley PLCs and motion controls, Allen-Bradley stepper motor control, Allen-Bradley reduced voltage starters, and Allen-Bradley operator interface panels. 
  • Develop technical documents required for contractors to quote outsourced electrical services and review work performed to ensure quality workmanship and code requirements are met.
  • Review technical specifications and schematics for new equipment to ensure that sound engineering practices are followed and that Machine Build Standards, NEC, and OSHA requirements are met.
  • Review and modify equipment as required to meet safety and ergonomic requirements. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops and implement required machine functionality.
  • Will use AutoCAD for generation of electrical drawings and the modification of existing drawings.

Job Requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSEE).
Must have a mimimum of 2 years hands-on manufacturing experience. 
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs for Robotics/Automation and Control Logix applications with redundancy (hot back-up).
Must be able to implement new automation, electrical products and technologies for applications with the process lines, including; marking systems, laser scanners, and camera devices
Experience with electrical design and automation solutions for process deficiencies. Knowledge of how to interpret National Electrical Code for compliance of European made machines for installation in North America. 
Solid understanding of mechanical concepts including but not limited to pneumatics, hydraulics, linear motion, rotary motion, etc.
Must possess working knowledge of electrical equations and concepts and the ability to make application of these concepts in relation to electrical and mechanical situations.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as algebra and calculus to develop practical solutions. 
Excellent computer and programming skills, basic knowledge of networks and Ethernet cabling practices, and working knowledge of general safety practices and manufacturing standards.
