Job Description

In 2007, rue21 opened 75 new stores and is projecting to open 80 to 100 new stores each year for the next five years. rue21's Corporate Office is located in the Warrendale/ Cranberry Township, PA area which is just north of the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This is a new role for rue21 based on the growth that we are having we are looking for additional BUYER - JUNIORS. This position is responsible for creating, developing and implementation of the merchandise strategy which includes leading the buying team, defining product assortments and strategizing and executing business plans to maximize sales, margins and turnover.

Merchandising:

  • Selection of vendors and product based on specific requirements, timing, target customer and distribution.
  • Forecasts fashion trends, evaluates competition and attend major markets
  • Coordinates requirements, specifications, timing, and distribution for merchandise selection

 

Assortment Planning:

  • Executes and develops departmental strategies it achieve global allocation and replenishment targets.
  • Monitor inventories to trends to maximize sales, improve margins and promotional events.

 

Financial Planning:

  • Achieve sales & profit objectives for the junior categories (fashion tops, denim, bottoms, active wear)
  • Manages the Open to Buy – weekly, monthly & season to date
  • Develops and executes exit strategies as needed
  • Develop strategies and criteria for negotiations

 

Pricing & Marketing Strategy:

  • Promotional planning
  • Developing pricing strategies

 

People Development:

  • Develop and foster a teamwork atmosphere
  • Proven ability to identify and develop talent to the next levels
  • Participate in cross-functional teams
 
Job Requirements
  • Five years experience as Buyer required
  • Successful track record in growing the business and maintaining margins
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous retail apparel experience required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • BS degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field preferred.
