Devereux New Jersey is looking for Residential Counselors for our community based group homes in Bridgeton.  As a Residential Counselor,  you would be responsible for providing quality care and motivation to clients along with maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. The Residential Counselor reports to the Program Supervisor.  This position has both part-time and fulltime openings with various hours and shifts. 

 

YOU will add value by: .

  • Facilitating proper medical care and participate in the medication administration for clients.
  • Providing training, transportation, and assistance for each individual to enable him/her to complete daily routines in a safe, healthy, productive and dignified manner. This usually includes toileting, bathing, dressing, laundry, and recreation.

  • Promoting proper care of clients, facilities and equipment.

  • Participating in the individual habilitation plan process.

  • Providing the opportunity for skill development in categories such as self-care, household chores, social skills, and recreation skills.

  • Administering medication upon completion of DDD Training.
  • Adhering to the Policies and Procedures of Devereux and the Center.

 
A Residential Counselor with Devereux will have the opportunity to work closely with the Program Manager, Program Supervisor, Behavior Analysts, medical care providers, psychiatrists, psychologist, clinicians, and other outside agencies involved in the care of the individuals in the group homes.
 


Job Requirements 

What will set YOU apart from other candidates::

  • One year experience in childcare, education, or programs with individuals with developmental disabilities. 
  • Associate's Degree or sixty (60) credits.
  • High School Diploma/GED must have two (2) years experience equivalent to educational requirement.
  • Creativity, energy, motivation, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
  • A strong passion for working with and helping children, adolescents and adults.
