Description

   PRINCIPAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide daily management, scheduling, and supervision for assigned district sales managers.
  • Promote sales of IBC products by implementing company sales direction through sales reps.
  • Call on customers to establish customer relationships, generate sales and to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure implementation of Company sales and marketing strategies.
  • Maintain communication with Business Unit GMs, Market Unit GM,  and direct reports.
  • Communicate with Operations to ensure product quality and proper order flow.
  • Responsible for Key Performance Indicators for net revenue management, returns and safety.
  • Monitor contractual implementation and maintain union contacts as necessary.
  • Demonstrate leadership, team building and conflict resolution for immediate employee group.
  • Manage all factors of route performance utilizing current technology.
  • Enhance route sales performance through use of technology.

  


  

Requirements JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or on-the-job experience needed

 

  • Minimum of high school or G.E.D. required. A two-year degree is preferred and a four-year degree is a plus.
  • 2 years DSD experience.
  • 3 years or more supervising and managing employees.
  • Industry-specific knowledge, skills & abilities needed.

 

  Direct Store Delivery - Understand DSD, particularly with perishable products

 

  • Retail, Convenient Store, Gas Store and Grocery Industry - Understands retail business concepts; Competitor knowledge and how they operate.
  • Bakery Industry - Understand perishable nature of IBC products.

 

  Functional/Job-Related knowledge, skills & abilities needed

 

  • Customer Driven - Understands how to maintain and enhance customer relationships.
  • Analytical Skills - Analytical approach to information gathering and subsequent fact based decision-making.
  • Decision Making - Ability & experience making critical decisions that impact the department, or organization.
  • Business and Financial Acumen - demonstrates knowledge of profit and loss concepts, management controls and accountability.
  • Operational Efficiency - Read, analyze and use business reports to determine if policies are followed and strategies are effective.
  • Sales and Sales Best Practices - sales skills necessary to improve position, space and displays; Understands the concept of selling and has functional sales skills.
  • Supply Chain Fundamentals - Basic understanding of IBC supply chain.
  • Work Planning, Organization and Execution - Effective at planning and organizing workflow for oneself and providing direction to direct reports.

  Management experience needed

 

  • Teamwork & Team Building - Adept at leadership, employee motivation and team building; Enjoys managing people; Deal with change and responding in resourceful productive manner.
  • People and Organization Development – Set goals, objectives to enhance organization performance.  Assure continuity and depth in organization by coaching, mentoring, and providing performance feedback.

  

Interpersonal knowledge, skills & abilities needed

 

  •  Relationship Building - Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with all levels of management and various functional groups both internal & external; Ability to interact with local labor representation.
  •  Written and Oral Communication – Good; Effective communications skills including giving clear verbal direction, actively listening to others and fostering open communication.
  • Problem Identification and Resolution - Ability to identify , analyze, and solve issues and problems in a timely and effective manner; Ability to handle stressful situations appropriately.
  • Results Oriented - Good follow up skills to ensure strategy implementation; Provide leadership through example and adequate direction.
