Job Description:

Person will be responsible for managing a global voice group, including conducting the performance management process and development of staff. Person will also be responsible for direction of the operational and administrative activities of the Voice and Audio Visual team and design, implementation and maintenance of the overall global voice network which impacts multiple clients and business units globally. The telecommunications team is responsible for monitoring utilization levels and trends throughout Northern Trust to determine quality of service while formulating, evaluating and reviewing long range telecommunications plans and projects which meet the requirements of the organization globally.

 

Major Duties:

1. Manages an information services unit. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs and establishes performance standards for the unit.

2. Determine staffing needs (conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations). Manages employee conflict resolution, handles salary administration, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities.

3. Organizes and delegates responsibilities, sets priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion in accordance to deadlines. Ensure staff works on appropriate priorities. Adhere to IT project management methodology. Follows through to ensure objectives are met.

4. Develop and forecast unit expense and capital budgets in time frames and formats required by the department. Oversees the purchase of appropriate hardware based on Corporate Standards.

5. Provides leadership and guidance to employees’ fostering an environment which encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication.

6. Create Disaster Recovery procedures and documentation per corporate standards. Create Business Continuity procedures and documentation per corporate standards.

7. Keep abreast of issues, projects, procedures, processes and guidelines set by corporate office and ensure adherence.

8. Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of effective voice and A/V strategy for the entire firm consistent with corporate objectives.

9. Maintains risk management and compliance programs and activities for their assigned group.

10. Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Knowledge/Skills:

Requires an in-depth knowledge of voice platforms with a strong networking background. IP telephony, including Cisco voice and network hardware is required. The ideal candidate will have call center experience, ideally Avaya and demonstrated experience with A/V technologies required. The ability to effectively translate business requirements into workable solutions is critical to this position, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a strong technical background in design and architecture are a must. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability of working in a large multi-national corporate environment, adhering to corporate designated policies, procedures and guidelines. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required to deliver projects on time and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set.
