Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC), a subsidiary of Dow Corning, currently seeks a for a Cross Functional Startup Team Leader position at our Hemlock, Michigan facility.
Must have un-restricted employment authorization to work in the U.S.
Job Skills/Requirements
This is an opportunity for a leadership position within HSLs expanding business. The Process Startup Team Leader manages all aspects of commissioning the new process. The role initially is to help identify needs for the startup budget, create the startup plan, identify checkout and pre-commissioning resourcing, strategic spares, and setup site equipment / facilities and contract resources needed. The leader defines the teams charter, organizational chart, roles and responsibilities, skills needed, interviews and builds the initial team for startup at Clarksville Tn. They supervise the startup areas reporting personnel, provide training, organize team activities and facilitate progress meetings in order to achieve the project startup date. The startup leader works with the Solar 4 process and capital engineering teams and the Manufacturing Rep using the HSC startup workflows to achieve the project goals and safely commission the new process. Their process knowledge is used to review the design, support audits, perform safety analysis (SAT/HAZOP/PPA/LOPA/etc.), solve technical problems, and resolve any customer issues. During construction, the Startup Leader will also schedule specialized cross functional teams for support on quality and weld inspections, pumps, compressors, refrigeration, HVAC, firewater/sprinklers, life safety / communication, process controls and other areas to help commission the new process. They will lead several process teams that follow construction work, support fabricator inspections, define and implement thorough equipment checkout, testing, and planned startup activities. After startup, the startup team duties are to assess performance and optimize the new process for final turnover to manufacturing. The Operations Team Leader with their production area team is also formed, participates throughout the construction phase, prepares for operation, provides support to startup activities, and takes ownership as production rates are achieved. All work must be completed in compliance with HSC safety standards, procedures, and to meet PSM requirements utilizing the HS, L.L.C. OCR process.
Position Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering. Five years of relevant chemical production/operational excellence(electronic industry experience) experience preferred. Will be forming groups, budgets, start up cost, team formation, organizing teams. Project scheduling experience preferred. Six sigma process preferred. Start up experience as preferred. Must have leadership experience. Excellent communication, leadership skills, flexibility, good organizational skills, high personal initiative, sound judgment and decision making skills are required. A high level of integrity, thoroughness, creativity, flexibility, initiative and ability to work effectively across functional boundaries is needed. Also must possess the ability to successfully work in a maintenance shop and manufacturing environment. Must have un-restricted employment authorization to work in the U.S. This role is initially at HSC in Hemlock Mi. and then working in Clarksville Tn. The person filling this role must be willing but may not end up relocating to Clarksville Tn.
