Nursing Retention and Success Specialists
Department of Nursing
The College of Health Professions is seeking two Master’s prepared Registered Nurses to administer and aid in the development of a Nursing Retention and Success program on the Towson University Campus and on its Hagerstown Campus. The Nursing Retention and Success program seeks to increase student retention in the nursing program and first-time success on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for students at Towson University. Start Date: January 2010.
Responsibilities: Administer computerized testing for nursing students to identify those students in need of educational remediation and preparation for NCLEX examination success; develop and implement a learning contract and success program for them; and develop
and administer a dosage exam preparation program
for all nursing students. The Department of Nursing is a CCNE accredited program with approximately 350 undergraduate students. In addition the department offers a master’s program in community-based nursing and a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education with over 70 students enrolled.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program, two years relevant experience, and licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland. Experience in remediation and nursing education as well as evidence of current clinical practice knowledge which reflects the role of a nurse generalist preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary: This full-time grant-funded staff position offers a competitive salary and full university benefits that include excellent health, life insurance, and retirement plans; tuition remission; and 22 days of annual leave, 14 holidays, personal and sick days.
