Description
  • This position is for an Information Systems Security Engineer, with primary responsibility for incident response, to support a growing initiative.
  • This is a unique opportunity to help grow and establish a team from the ground up and be involved with team selection, procedure documentation and process development.
  • This individual will implement and maintain tools to assist in the analysis of intelligence information and determine the best course of action to protect the confidentiality, availability and integrity of data.
  • This individual will also leverage tools, to include SIEM, Vulnerability Assessment, IPS and others to conduct comprehensive analysis with the intention of discovering unknown, suspicious or exploitation activity.
  • During an intrusion investigation, this individual will not only leverage the aforementioned tools but will be required to work with other departments and outside organizations to develop a comprehensive incident remediation solution. 
  • The ability to summarize and report on findings in a technical report that is useful to other technical specialists but also understandable by laypersons will be critical.
  • Note: This is a hands-on position with collateral leadership functions. You must demonstrate complete mastery of hands-on information security and incident response processes and procedures to be considered for this position. Some travel may be required.
  • Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Active DoD clearance (Secret or higher) is required for all candidates.
    • Knowledge of Federal ISS/IA regulation, policies and procedures.
    • Experience working with/in a DoD environment.
    • Hands-on experience with Log Analysis / SIEM Tools.
    • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing intelligence information and technical data, analyzing exploitation opportunities, documenting information and processes, gathering intelligence information, interpreting analytical results, performing Internet research and writing and editing skills at a technical/professional level.
    • Ability to develop defensive countermeasures and mitigation strategies.
    • Analytic expertise to perform technical and overall analysis of unknown, suspicious or exploitation activity identified, and communications skills that include the ability to provide formal documentation of analysis and/or research results
    • BS degree with a minimum of 8 years experience in Information Assurance/Information System Security Engineering.
    • Must have 3+ years experience with cyber incident response and investigations.
    • CISSP or GIAC required.
    • Experience with FISMA, NISPOM, NIST, CJCS, CNSS, DCID and FIPS.

     

     

     

    Preferred Additional Skills:

    • Experience leading both projects and teams preferred.
    • MS degree preferred.
    • Certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, GCED, GCFA, GPEN, CHFI, ECSA, CEH, EnCE, CFCE, and CCE.
    • Prior Experience with EnCase, FTK, ILook, Sleuth Kit/Autopsy, MANDIANT First Response, or other computer forensic tools and techniques.
    • Volatile memory acquisition and analysis knowledge / experience.
    • Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skills a necessity.
    • Must be self-motivated and be capable of handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

     

     

     

    This position requires the candidate to already possess an active DoD Secret clearance and to maintain the clearance.
