InCare Home Health & Hospice agency a division of Medical Services of America is currently seeking an Occupational Therapist for our Myrtle Beach, SC location.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Demonstrate, through documentation and practice, knowledge of normal adult physiology, pathology and diagnosis related to ICD codes, as it relates to occupational therapy.
- Evaluate the occupational therapy needs of patients in their home and prepares plan of care under the physician’s orders.
- Initiate and implement patient’s plan of treatment.
- Identifie and re-evaluate the patient’s need for modification of treatment or initiation of additional services, and prepares the recert 485 according to policy.
- Observe and report to the physician any pertinent change in the patient’s condition. Initiates diagnostic, preventive and rehabilitative procedures as appropriate to the patient’s care and safety.
- Make referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
- Design orthotics as indicated by the patient’s condition and needs.
- Treat the patient through the use of therapeutic activities designed to restore function and self-care activities for the purpose of improving function.
- Instruct and advises patient, family and other health team personnel in the program designed to increase the patient’s strength and control.
- Teach, supervise and counsel the patient and family regarding home rehabilitative procedures and other care needs as appropriate.
- Discharge patients in accordance with established goals and InCare policy and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and concise records according to InCare’s procedure and regulatory standards, and submits all paperwork within time frame identified by policy.
- Assist in staff education as requested by Staff Development and DOPS.
- Demonstrate and teach alternate techniques to complete activities of daily living, proper transfer, and positioning.
- Order and/or fabricates adaptive/assistive devices and equipment.
- Complete all documentation in a timely fashion which follows InCare’s procedures and regulatory standards, and submits paperwork within time frame identified by policy.
- Practice confidentiality and respect for patient’s rights
- Keep current with Occupational therapy practices and provides proof of ongoing clinical practice through attendance at inservices, education seminars, and review of current literature.
- Adheres to InCare’s required number of hours of inservice attendance per year.
- Supervise the COTA in the delivery of care to the patient
- Attend Team Conferences on a regular basis, and presents patients’ status, progress, goals and interventions.
- Attends staff meetings on a regular basis.
- Consistently demonstrates dependability in day to day duties, i.e., responsiveness to requests, maintaining and updating work schedule and completing assignments independently with little supervision.
- Use established lines of communication.
- Use resources cost effectively
- Promote collaborative working relationships.
- Demonstrate effective time management skills.
- Support the agency’s philosophy and goals, and presents a positive image of the agency.
- Practice confidentiality and respect for patient’s rights.
- Maintain and adheres to InCare employee attendance guidelines.
- Participate in committee activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate occupational therapist program;
- Licensed to practice in the state of South Carolina;
- Currently registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Minimum Experience:
- One (1) year experience as an Occupational Therapist.;
- Home health experience preferred.
MSA offers competitive pay and excellent benefits
- 40 hours paid leave time (PLT) after six months of employment. Additional PLT accrues on a bi-weekly basis.
