General Description

The Assistant Director for eMarketing oversees the development and execution of all Foundation, intranet, and ecommerce strategies for engaging donors and prospects through the use of new technologies and media. This position will work as a lead member of a cross-functional team that includes the University, Athletics, UCHC, UConn Alumni Association and School and College marketing teams, internal and external designers, and Foundation IT staff in the execution and implementation of all marketing activity.



Duties and Responsibilities

The following make up the core of the position’s responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute and maintain all Foundation websites and presence on various social networking sites
  • Create strategies to draw appropriate traffic levels, including online advertising, web optimization, social networking and blogging, for example
  • Analyze key traffic metrics and make recommendations based on analysis
  • Devise innovative programs to assist in the acquisition of email addresses and determine constituent preferences for cultivation, solicitations and other contact
  • Develop and coordinate email campaigns, internet advertising, social media and affiliate marketing programs as needed
  • Manage external vendors to execute appropriate programming, creative and technology solutions
  • Maintain leading-edge knowledge of emerging internet trends and web analytics.

Coordinate all activities with and provide leadership of cross-disciplinary team involving Foundation internal staff, University resources as needed, the UConn Alumni Association and others for the effective integration of related campus efforts utilizing electronic communications to engage constituents of the University; provide regular reports on the status of the team’s activities to the Director of Communications.

Develop written and visual content appropriate to various electronic outlets that advance the Foundation’s mission, presence and priorities to targeted constituent groups.

Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Foundation and UConn to assist in determining the proper channels, message segmentation and follow-up necessary for effective engagement of donors and prospects across all platforms; maintain Foundation brand and messaging on all sites.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications

Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in related field
  • 3 to 5 years experience in the execution of marketing communications preferably in  higher education or non-profit industry
  • Experience with web design, marketing strategies and segmentation
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Team and customer oriented, with strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Organized, with excellent project management skills
  • Experience working with designers and software developers, and an understanding of the general development processes preferred
  • 3 or more years’ expertise in HTML, specifically for email marketing
  • Experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, flash, animation, CSS, and audio and video programs for the web
  • Experience with bulk emailing, SPAM, and opt-in/opt-out requirements
  • Experience with WebTrends, Google Analytics, and other web reporting products
