The fundamental responsibility of the EMT-P is to conserve life, to alleviate suffering, to promote health, to do no harm and to encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care. The EMT-P is qualified in advanced pre-hospital emergency care and services by a competency-based educational program of clinical, didactic, and practice. The standard of practice of the EMT-P shall be in accordance with the most current edition of the US DOT “Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic: National Standard Curriculum”, as modified by the MS SDOH DEMS and AMR.

A. Must meet the core job functions and job qualification standards for field operations personnel as described in the Standard Operating Procedure manual.
B. Unless otherwise specified, the guidelines for clinical competency for EMT-Paramedic shall be as published in the current EMT-Paramedic text by Brady. American Heart Association guidelines shall supersede.
C. Skillful in the application of BLS and ALS procedures applicable to the position and in the use of all equipment maintained on ambulances.
D. Must be currently State and Nationally registered as EMT-P.
E. Must possess a current driver’s license in the State where the Business Unit is located except where exempt by State regulation.
F. Currently licensed as EMS-Driver with DEMS.
G. Current adult and child CPR certification from AHA.
H. Current certification as ACLS provider. New employees have 6 months to obtain this certification but must be knowledgeable in ACLS nonetheless.
I. Full time employees must be available for recall in times of crisis.
J. Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by the Company and outlined in the Standard Operations Procedure manual.
K. In States where required, must possess a current Class D driver’s license.
L. Must be at least 18 years old.
