Description
  • The Assistant Director of Nursing Education helps to insure the successful conduct of the Vocational Nursing Department and for the optimum learning outcomes of its students through effective performance in these essential functional areas.
  • Program and curriculum design and development
  • Insures that instruction meets or exceeds the standards and guidelines established by Accrediting bodies and legislation.
  • Budget and fiscal management
  • Program evaluation and assessment
  • Administration and resource management
  • Along with the Clinical Coordinator, evaluates and selects clinical affiliations appropriate for use by Vocational Nursing Program to prospective students and facilities.
  • Meets on a regularly scheduled basis with the Director regarding matters pertinent to the operation of the Vocational Nursing Program
  • Attends regularly scheduled Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians meetings
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences
  • Exercises authority in selection and retention of students
  • Maintains effective communication with assigned personnel and provide necessary guidance and counseling
  • Assists in compiling quarterly and annual statistical reports required by the College and BVNPT
  • Advise students as needed regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress, attendance, professional behavior issues
  • Assume responsibilities for the management of the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing Education
  • Support the policies of the Vocational Nursing Department and the Institution

 

 

Requirements

Personnel Management

 

  • Participate in the interview process, hiring, and training of new faculty
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of faculty members
  • Facilitate communication between all staff members
  • Provide assistance with updates and training of faculty including but not limited to rules and regulations from the BVNPT and other regulatory agencies.
  • Accept other assignments by the Director that will facilitate a productive program

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse
  • Hold a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited school
  • Completed a course or courses offered by an accredited school with instruction in teaching, curriculum development and administration
