Principal Scientist - Stem Cell Research

Join our growing team as a Principal Scientist at WuXi AppTec, a NYSE listed public company, based in Shanghai, China. We offer global pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical companies diverse outsourcing services in combinatorial, medicinal, synthetic chemistry and manufacturing of API’s and finished drug products for preclinical and clinical trials. Our clients include over 80 leading global pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Our rapid business expansion opens up this exciting position.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join a small team for product development in human embryonic stem cell (hESC) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) research area.  Major areas of development include generation of hiPSC from normal and diseased human specimens, construction of reporter-tagged hiPSC for directed differentiation, and creation of hiPSC disease models using Sigma’s proprietary ZFN technology.

Required qualifications:

• Ph. D. in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, and biomedical sciences with minimum 5 years working experience in academic and R&D environment.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience on hESC and/or hiPSC, including reprogramming of somatic cells into hiPSC, either from normal or diseased human specimens, and directed differentiation of hESC or hiPSC into specific cell lineages, e.g. neural, haematopoeitic, hepatic, pancreatic, and cardiac lineages.
• Oversea education or experiences of training /working
• Demonstrated capability of creative thinking and problem solving
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills with project management experience
• Demonstrated capability of collaboration with others
• Well-connected with stem cell research community in China
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese 

• Other qualifications:

•  In-depth knowledge on molecular signaling governing differentiation of hES cells along lineages that give rise to hepatic cells and haematopoeitic stem cells.
• Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, gene cloning, mammalian cell transfection, real-time PCR, microarray, Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, and flow cytometry, etc.
• Experience on handling mouse and human tissue biopsy
