Notice of Faculty Vacancy in Choral Music Education

The University of Maryland School of Music invites applications for a position in Choral Music Education at the rank of associate or assistant professor, starting August 15, 2010.  This position would complement a faculty committed to preparing innovative music education in a collaborative learning environment.

 

Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate courses in music education including choral methods and voice pedagogy; teach graduate courses related to the candidate’s expertise; actively pursue research and publication in music education; advise undergraduate and/or graduate music education students; direct research projects at the master’s and doctoral levels; develop and maintain relationships with music educators through workshops, performances, and school visits.  This position provides opportunities for conducting regularly within the School of Music’s Choral Activity program and for summer session instruction.

 

Qualifications:  By August 2010, the candidate should have attained a doctoral degree in music education or in a related field; successful PreK-12 school teaching experience; successful university/college teaching experience.  The candidate should demonstrate strong evidence of, or potential for research, publication, and professional leadership in music education.

 

Rank and Salary:  Associate Professor or Assistant Professor tenure-track.  Salary commensurate with experience.

 

Starting Date:  August 15, 2010
