Job Title: Store Manager
Division: Sales

Summary of Primary Duties:
The position of Store Manager is an important one at Machine and Welding Supply Company because of the interaction it has with our customers and the responsibilities it has for managing the daily operations of our store. Generally, this position is responsible for managing the inside sales effort, ensuring walk-in and call-in customer satisfaction, coordinating and scheduling of daily routes, and ensuring that various branch administrative functions are performed. In addition, this position is responsible for the receipt, display, and distribution of branch inventory, maintenance and general upkeep of the store, and performing various safety functions.
List of Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales/Customer Service

Assist walk-in customers and aggressively solicit store sales.

Assess and respond to walk-in and call-in customer needs.

Provide excellent service and be customer focused.

Provide services to our customers that add value beyond the products, such as technical expertise, prompt response to their needs, ease of doing business, etc.

Communicate with customers concerning needs, questions, and problems.

Resolve customer needs, questions, and problems or communicate them to appropriate company personnel (i.e., product orders, potential sales, service issues, accounts receivable and credit issues, technical support needs, billing problems, cylinder discrepancies, welder repair needs, etc.)

Prepare delivery tickets correctly for store sales.

Prepare sales quotes within branch guidelines.
-
Always attempt to maximize gross profit when pricing.

Prepare and assemble equipment and other products for customers.

Make hot-shot deliveries as needed.
Store, Route, and Delivery Management
-
Manage daily store operations.
-
Manage inside sales personnel relative to daily operations.
-
Coordinate welder repair activities for branch.
-
Ensure all new employees are properly trained and are properly introduced to their new work area.

Open and close store daily.
-
Receive and distribute call-in orders and telephone messages to the appropriate branch personnel.

Ensure all incoming and outgoing fax transmissions are handled.
-
Ensure company vehicles are appropriately maintained.
-
Manage, schedule, and coordinate daily route operations.
-
Ensure administrative route duties are performed (i.e., driver time sheets, daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, truck manifests, etc.).

Ensure there are substitutes for absent route salesmen.
-
Ensure route trucks are properly counted in and out.
-
Ensure that route salesmen are assisted with loading and unloading cylinders.
-
Ensure hardgood orders and truck restocking items are pulled and ready for the driver to load each day.

Coordinate emergency, hot-shot, and call-in deliveries.
Inventory Management
-
Place and follow-up on gas and hardgoods orders.
-
Place and follow-up on emergency orders.
-
Receive, verify, label, and distribute inventory received from warehouse.
-
Transfer and receive inventory to and from branches.
-
Prepare store for inventory and participate in inventory count.
Administrative
-
Ensure daily report is completed (i.e., invoices must be verified, logged, and separated; customer contracts and new account cards must be created; deposit must be prepared; truck manifest and vehicle inspection forms must be filed; etc.).

Ensure mail is retrieved and bank deposit is performed daily.
-
Ensure cash drawer/petty cash are balanced daily.

Ensure cylinder inventory is performed and forwarded to corporate office.
-
Ensure customer delivery ticket and invoice files are set-up and maintained.
-
Ensure incoming mail is sorted and distributed.
-
Ensure DOT files and vehicle records are maintained and up-to-date.

Ensure truck manifest and vehicle inspection files are maintained and purged periodically.
-
Ensure medical files are maintained and updated.
-
Ensure an adequate office supply inventory is maintained.
-
Ensure forklift is inspected before each use.
-
Ensure all credits, re-bills, and cylinder adjustments to customer accounts are approved by the branch manager and performed by appropriate branch personnel.

Ensure outstanding delivery ticket report is submitted to the corporate office monthly.
-
Ensure outgoing mail is prepared and shipped daily.
-
Ensure rental equipment records are maintained and rental sales are billed in accordance with policies set forth by the Tiger Division.

Ensure apparatus repair items are recorded, shipped, received, delivered, and billed.
-
Ensure UPS packages are prepared for shipment daily and UPS receipts are submitted to the corporate office weekly.

Ensure inside, outside, and route salesmen collect accounts receivable as directed.

Ensure vendor catalogs are updated and maintained.
-
Ensure price books, contract books, and customer lists are updated in a timely fashion.
-
Ensure that fire extinguishers are checked monthly by company personnel and inspected yearly by an appropriate outside agency.

Ensure that safety forms, postings, and equipment are maintained.
-
Ensure employee uniforms are counted in and out when exchanged.
Store Maintenance
-
Ensure the store’s showroom, warehouse, and surrounding grounds are kept clean, neat, and properly maintained.

Ensure products are displayed in a manner that is appealing to customers and meets their needs.

Ensure restrooms are clean at all times.
Other
-
Present a professional image in appearance always.
-
Attend training as required.
-
Maximize product knowledge and be aware of industry trends.
-
Generally support fellow members of the branch team and perform other related duties as required.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
Experience:
Past jobs interacting with customers is required
Four years of experience in the welding/gas industry is required
Two years of experience in a sales position is required
Skills/Knowledge:
Welding/gas background or knowledge is required
B class CDL license is preferred (Not necessary upon hire)
Strong interpersonal skills are required

Handling of heavy materials (cylinders, boxes, etc.) is required
Using office equipment, computers, etc., is required
Operating forklift is required
Operating 2-ton truck with lift gate is occasionally required
