Job Description

Position Profile - Who are we looking for?
The Baird Application Development Architect team is growing to support the needs of our business! The newly created Integration Architect position will develop the vendor tool integration strategy and best practices, with a goal of building and delivering integrated systems throughout the organization. Partnering with other Data and Application Architects, this role will include a heavy leadership component to include mentoring and coaching team members, a broad impact on multiple teams, and influence at the enterprise level. The ideal candidate will be addicted to data and have the ability to creatively make order out of complexity. Looking to add a new tool to your toolbox? We are moving toward utilizing the Markit EDM platform and this role will be the platform owner and champion.

What will I do?
Design and Build the Strategy!
* Develop solution architecture for key projects by providing and owning the technical details for Baird's integration solutions
* Understand desired business outcomes, translate business requirements into technical requirements and then create and express technological solution design
* Understand business workflow and automation needs of the presented solutions
* Work with Business Analysts on high level project estimates and creation of test plans
* Influence the direction of system integration architecture, platforms, versions, and toolsets.
* Assist in developing best practices for system integration and communicate to the team

Make the Design work!
* Translate technical requirements into implementation tasks and milestones
* Work with development team on refined estimates based on implementation tasks
* Alongside development team members, develop and build solutions using Baird's Enterprise Integration tools (currently Markit EDM, SSIS, SQL Server and C#) as well as other integration technologies
* Maintain integrity of high-level design and integration architecture by facilitating/leading design reviews, code reviews, and demos.

Lead - Coach and Mentor!
* Approve integration solution releases
* Provide technical mentoring to development team members
* Ensure team members are following best practices within Baird's software development processes.

Communicate and Collaborate!
* with Project Managers and Business Analysts - communicate impact of technical decisions on scope and resourcing needs, requirements needs and impact of changes, etc.
* with Development Teams - communicate requirements-oriented tasks and architecture, expectation setting for desired outcomes, and the guiding the team down a successful execution path.
* with Architect team - discuss feedback on potential issues with architecture implementation

Candidate Profile - What we need from you?
* B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
* At least 7 years of system integration engineering experience, at least 3 years preferably in the securities industry.
* Proven ability to apply target data and integration architecture to solution design
* Ability to breakdown large data project tasks into smaller project deliverables and even smaller development tasks
* Comfortable working in an Agile development environment
* Demonstrated effective decision making on implementing integration architecture and design
* Deep Experiences with at least one enterprise-class ETL tool: Markit EDM, Informatica, Ab Initio, DataStage, etc.
* Strong experience working with common file formats (delimited flat files, positional, XML, etc.) and transmission technologies (FTP, HTTP, SSH, SSL, PGP, SOAP, etc.)
* Experience using an Enterprise Information Model and/or a Master Data Management tool
* Demonstrated experience with Microsoft database and ETL technologies: SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* Working knowledge of object-oriented programing language: C# strongly preferred
* Experience with and Enterprise ESB technology a plus: BizTalk, Tibco, WebSphere, etc.
* Experience with common Financial Services data standards a plus: FIX, SWIFT, RIMES, Morningstar, Bloomberg Data, etc.
* Knowledge of securities industry data entities a plus: Counterparties, Securities, Trades, etc.
