Responsible for the management of the Health Information Management and Transcription Services on a 24 hour basis. Insures that the hospital philosophy and core values are evident in the service delivered to customers. Directs and controls department functions. Responsible for the development and maintenance of adequate medical record retrieval and statistical systems to meet administrative, medical staff and marketing needs. Actively supports the hospital and medical staff performance improvement programs. Ensures a smooth transition between day shifts and on call period. Responsible for maintaining the Health Information Management Department Quality Assurance functions. Works cooperatively as a team with all revenue cycle, hospital and management associates. Serves as a trainer and mentor for new hires. Coordinates staff development and performance improvement through Six Sigma Lean Principals. Responsible for completing time and attendance records for the Health Information Management and Transcription services.

A.Education/Skills – •Bachelor of Science degree from approved school of Health Information Administration or Associate of Science from an approved school of Health Information Technology with comparable experience •Excellent communication skills. •Must be a self-starter. •Ability to think and act globally •Ability to problem solve. •Strong critical thinking skills •Team building and coaching skills •Strong analytical, financial, and budgetary skills. •Project management and implementation skills strongly preferred •Appropriate computer skills: M/S Office, Internet search capabilities, basic computer operation •Must be able to use a 10 key. B.Experience – •Three to five years experience in a Health Information Management Department of a JCAHO accredited hospital with specific management experience preferred. C.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications – •RHIA or RHIT preferred.
