Staff Engineer / Technologist

The Staff Engineer/Technologist will develop and mature high temperature coatings/materials processes used in aviation industry hot section components. You will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
In addition, you will:
Execute with limited guidance the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product/program requirements
Recommend approach to meet technical and program requirements
Provide technical leadership to other personnel assigned to support the effort on assigned projects and/or tasks; mentors others in the organization
Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited College or University (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or other technical experience)
Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering position
Minimum 5 years’ experience in high temperature coatings and materials process development
Eligibility Requirements:This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Technological proficiency, including relevant engineering tools
Additional experience designing and implementing new products using the NPI process
An understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data-based recommendations and decisions (GE Employees only)
Knowledge of the aviation industry manufacturing and quality standards are a plus
Strong teaming skills
Ability to guide and influence others
Demonstrate leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty
Ability to document, plan, market & execute programs
