In conjunction with this agreement Intel Corporation (through Intel Capital); Google Inc.; Comcast Corporation; Time Warner Cable Inc; and Bright House Networks have collectively agreed to invest $3.2 billion into the new company. Technology Development WiMAX Core Test EngineerDescription: The Technology Development (TD) WiMAX Core Test Engineer will work within the TD Lab & Field Test team to test the core design of WiMAX systems, as well as, maintain the core infrastructure of the various lab and Over-the-Air (OTA) test environments. The engineer will gather test requirements, develop and execute test plans and report detailed test results to the sponsoring Development team. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Technology Development, Product Development and Engineering & Operations, be responsible for testing and deliver results within the schedules developed by the PMO.Responsibilities Include: Assist with the construction of test plans. Provide technical guidance in the selection of core architecture, testing tools, testing methodology, and network design required for test execution. Document detailed test procedures and network design required as part of a test plan.Implement test-beds in a lab and field environment. Configure routers, switches, bridges, transmission devices, servers, test tools, and vendor specific network elements in support of the creation of test-beds in accordance with test plans. Assist in the physical interconnection of network elements. Develop and implement automated testing scripts and procedures. Configure testing equipment, tools, and servers to support testing activities. Diagnose and repair network, transmission, and/or application failures in a test-bed.Assist with the implementation of a supporting test-bed infrastructure. Configure, interconnect, and validate the functionality of test supporting infrastructure such as routers, switches, bridges, Web / DNS / NTP / FTP / Radius / Diameter / UNIX / DHCP / Media Servers, and other network elements. Configure and provision VPNs interconnecting various test-beds.Execute tests in accordance with test plans in a lab and field environment. Document the results of tests in a test report. Assist in the creation of automated tools for post processing of raw test data. Prepare graphs and charts summarizing and displaying test data for inclusion in test reports. Assist with the analysis of data resulting from a test and suggest further tests and/or methodology. Report, diagnose, and repair network, transmission and/or application errors observed as part of the execution of a test plan.Minimum Qualifications (Job related skills, experience and education):BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other applicable technical or business degree; and at least 5-7 years of Telecommunications Industry experience. MS degree preferred.Several years of hands-on Wireless core network experience – system design, integration, optimization, and operation, including excellent understanding of current wireless core network technologies (AAA, Radius, Diameter, MIP, DHCP, LAN/WAN technologies, Ethernet, L2TP, GRE, and IPsec). Experience with WiMax core network configuration and operations is a plus.First hand experience with Lab or Field relating testing (Proof-of-concept, design verification, device certification, FOA, FIT, etc.) including development of procedures, test execution, data processing data analysis, and technical report/presentation writing.Ability to quickly learn new technology fundamentals, show extreme flexibility, work on several projects and priorities at once, work in a highly-collaborative environment, and show leadership in driving successful accomplishment of tasks.Several years demonstrating ability to actively manage complex technical issues and risks, with ability to have a deeper understanding of the issues and their impacts in order to offer solutions and drive resolution across a large cross-functional team.Demonstrated experience in managing external vendors to delivery on documented, committed scope for technology solutions.Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical and program management skills required along with the ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to multi functional teams.Proven team player who can effectively interact with others to accomplish tasks within a tight delivery schedules.Excellent Computer skills including MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and VisioTechnical Expertise in the following:Strong knowledge of IP technology including a understanding of the OSI reference model, IP addressing, IP header analysis, TCP protocol knowledge, IPv4 multicast, ARP, and DHCP. Strong familiarity with a variety of LAN/WAN technologies used in the transport of IP including HDLC over TDM, IP over Ethernet, PPP, PPP over Ethernet, L2TP, GRE, and IPsec.Knowledge of traditional IP WAN access extension technologies such as MIP, LAC, and LNS servers.Experience in broadband mobile wireless CDMA 1XRTT, EV-DO, WiFi, or WiMAX core network configuration and operation.Knowledge of a variety of Layer 7 applications used in a traditional ISP network core and a working understanding of the configuration and installation of DNS, http, DHCP, Radius, Tacacs, Diameter, and Syslog servers.Working knowledge of IP switching and routing technology, including the use of basic routing/bridging protocols and techniques such as static routing, RIP, spanning-tree, VLAN trunking, and port mirroring. Hands-on experience with Cisco switches and routers including the Catalyst platform. Ability to configure networks of Catalyst switches to perform basic IPv4 switching and routing tasks.Experience with the core technologies involved in the support of various Radio Access Networks such as RNC, BSC, SGSN, GGSN, PDSN, and other 3GPP/3GPP2 core elements.Basic high-level understanding of Radio Access technologies such as CDMA, OFDM, TDD, and FDD.Knowledge of the planning and execution of tests in a laboratory and/or field environment. Familiarity with basic testing methodology such as the use of iteration, control cases, and baselining, and a basic understanding of the scientific method. Ability to plan a IP test, assist in the construction of a IP test plan document, assist in the construction of a physical IP testbed, execute tests according to plan, and document results.Familiar with the use of Microsoft Word and possess basic technical writing skills. Experience in the analysis of raw data generated from such testing activities, and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel to post-process and graph raw data for the inclusion into a test report.Familiarity with the use of IP testing tools such as tcpdump, Ethereal, Wireshark, Smartbits, Agilent, Adtech, Chariot, Iperf, and MGEN.Familiarity with at least one version of the UNIX operating system, and be able to perform basic tasks such as account creation, program execution, text editing, file transfer, and output redirection.
