Job Type:  Full-Time

Job Description:  Underwriting, reviewing and analyzing applications for auto insurance, claim and/or motor vehicle reports and other underwriting documents to determine acceptance of new, renewal and rewrite business. Must be able to multi task to include the entry of various types of data in the policy processing system as well as provide customer service to both agents and policyholders. Must possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures that would normally be associated with writing auto insurance. Must be able to work independently and once fully trained be able to exercise independent judgment. Position will report to underwriting / processing manager.Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for updating the system of all incoming documents
  • Processing all change requests by phone or by fax
  • Processing cancellation requests made by the agents or consumers
  • Answering and servicing incoming calls from Agents and consumers
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Agents, consumers, other interoffice departments and staff. Provide assistance wherever it is needed
  • Underwriting, reviewing and analyzing applications for risk acceptability
  • Order and review claim and/or motor vehicle reports as well as other documents to determine acceptance
  • Maintain a firm degree of ethical responsibility and standards.
  • Provide superior customer service and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Knowledge of state and industry bureaus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with a PC and data entry skills with typing skills of 35 words per minute or more preferred
  • Skill and ability to use and operate a typewriter, computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, scanner and telephone
  • Ability to adapt to changes as necessary, to prioritize effectively and successfully complete multiple tasks with short deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with analytical ability at a level sufficient to understand and related to a client’s requests and concerns
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Maintain a team work ethic
  • Job Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years Personal Auto experience in underwriting and customer service
