Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Lead Auditor to join our Internal Audit team in Orlando, Florida.

Nemours Children’s Hospital is part of a multi-specialty group practice that provides pediatric care for children and adolescents with chronic or complex medical conditions in Florida, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. At Nemours, we take a whole-child approach to children’s health care — treating the whole child (not just the condition) and advancing life-changing research, prevention, and education.

On our 60-acre pediatric health campus, we offer family-centered specialty care, education, and state-of-the-art hospital services, along with world-class pediatric specialties such as rheumatology, interventional radiology, and comprehensive physical and rehabilitation medicine. Nemours Children’s Hospital includes a new Nemours Children’s Clinic, an ambulatory diagnostic center and extensive research and education facilities.

The Lead Auditor for the Hospital and Clinics in Central Florida draws on his/her extensive expertise in healthcare operations and audits to plan and execute all of the financial, operational, process, and integrated audits for the hospital and clinics. He/she is able to achieve a high degree of efficiency in planning and executing audits and consultations. Using his/her extensive expertise and experience, the Lead Auditor is able to focus audit and consultative efforts on high-risk areas, enabling the Audit Services Department to conduct a greater number of focused, accurate, risk-based audits in Central Florida annually; thereby, contributing significantly to the goal of effective risk mitigation and identification and elimination of waste due to inefficient or ineffective processes.

1. Responsible for the development and execution of a data-driven, risk based Audit Plan for Florida, a critical subcomponent of the Audit Services Annual Audit Plan. The Florida Audit Plan directly reflects the Lead Auditor’s understanding of trends in healthcare and of higher risk areas for Florida operations.

2. Through his/her professional demeanor and expertise, value-added efficient financial, operational, process, and integrated audits, and reputation as an outstanding example of the Nemours Standards of Behavior, the Lead Auditor is a trusted and valuable resource on the Audit Services Team to teammates, Florida Leaders, and Enterprise Senior Leadership.

3. Using clear and impactful data presentation techniques and proven effective communication techniques, the Lead Auditor communicates audit findings in a way that facilitates the auditee’s quick and complete comprehension of complicated subject matter, positioning the auditee to be in a a position of knowledge and understanding to effect necessary changes in policy, processes, procedures, or controls.

4. Embodies and models an approach to the design and execution of audits that exemplifies full knowledge, understanding and compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (“IIA”) standards.

5. Models an approach to the creation and execution of audits that is in alignment with continuous improvement principles, embracing learning and exploration and thoughtful critical thinking and search for root causes, independently seeking out information and feedback that results in a superior audit reporting and presentation product that provides value-added to Nemours.

6. Provides valuable assistance to Florida management by drawing on the expertise of all other components of the Audit Services Team, including the Audit Data Analytics team, to develop data-driven, risk-based, Computer Aided Audit Tools (CAATs) to test controls and monitor processes.

7. Maintains full knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Job Requirements

1. Extremely strong organization and analytical skills coupled with strong demonstrated subject matter expertise that enables independent and reliable execution of essential functions.

2. In consultation with the Manager of Data Analytics and Auditing Communication, creates a highly effective and innovative auditing communication platform: the audit report should be delivered in a way that mimics an Apple iPad: user- friendly, intuitive, full of usable information that is readily accessible.

3. Adept and comfortable with managing multiple priorities and tasks with efficiency that does not sacrifice accuracy in results and a thoughtful, practical, analytical approach.

4. Maintains working and current knowledge of healthcare operations and monitors trends in healthcare to identify emerging areas of risk.

5. Travel minimally (local travel to Nemours sites in geographic region of hospital location).

Accounting/finance undergraduate degree. Graduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Healthcare Administration.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.

Seven to ten years healthcare auditing experience required. At least three years in public accouting with healthcare clients preferred.

Familiarity with EPIC and LAWSON preferred. Familiarity with data analytics packages such as ACL, IDEA, Qlikview, or other Business Intelligence platforms a plus.

We offer specialty care clinics for children in Egg Harbor Township, Voorhees and Vineland.

We provide specialty pediatric care in clinics throughout Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Lancaster, Newtown Square and Collegeville. Also, we provide pediatric primary care in Lankenau and Philadelphia.

Nemours Children's Hospital is located in Orlando. Also, we extend our specialty pediatric care to children and their families at our clinics throughout the Orlando area and in Jacksonville and Pensacola.
