Controls and monitors television broadcasting equipment to transmit television programs and station breaks to viewing audience by performing the following duties. 


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 


  • Verifies and programs computer schedule for proper playback of commercials and programs.

  • Observes commercials to insure that they match the log.  Presses buttons on switching equipment to begin a break in live programming to transmit program and station breaks to the viewing audience. 

  • Observes on-air monitor to ascertain problems with transmission such as loss of audio or video signals, and presses buttons to access and transmit technical difficulties sign or station identification to viewing audience. 

  • Verifies onto the television programming log the actual time program or station break as aired. 

  • Prepares discrepancy report describing problems or deviations from the log encountered during transmission of program or station break and reason for problem or deviation.  .

  • Notifies appropriate person of any problem with promos, commercials, or PSAs.

  • Runs weather and news crawls.

  • Loads Video tapes and server files for recording and playback.

  • Monitors and adjusts video and audio signals by picture monitor, waveform monitor, loudspeaker, and by Vu meters.

  • Obtains tapes, cassettes, and files from A/V or hard drives according to program schedule.

  • Responsible for the routine set-up of the record and on-air schedule including assignment of satellite equipment, recording devices, and playback facilities.

  • Investigates problems encountered with recording equipment, as well as video subsystems such as frame synchronizers.  Also advises engineering personnel of the abnormality and recommends appropriate corrective action.
