Compensation: $120,000 to $150,000 per year
Robert Half Finance and Accounting has teamed up with a $12 billion + international real estate investment firm to assist in the recruitment of a VP of Finance and Accounting. This role will manage a large team of CPAs and be responsible for overseeing very complex investment accounting for various national and international investment partnerships (private equity and real estate). The role requires a CPA with 10+ years of experience and a proven track record of managing a large team of accounting professionals (at least 25+ professionals). Pay is "market" depending on the candidate's skill set. Note that this role will pay well into the six figures for the right background.

Job Duties:
This position has the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of financial information on investments in foreign and domestic real estate, operating companies, structured products and manages a large team of CPAs. The VP manages all aspects of this reporting including audit, process and quality control and investment accounting. The VP ensures financial data is accurate according to the equity method or cost method of accounting, and ensures that reporting deadlines are met. The ability to interpret legal documentation and other source documents with a US GAAP application is critical.
Responsible for ensuring that reports provided to executive management are accurate and submitted on a timely basis
Responsible for managing process improvements
Responsible for the management of the accounting and internal reporting on the investments owned
Review of financials, including footnotes, for accuracy and completeness
Ensuring that the group meets all internal and external reporting deadlines, including audit, tax, and third party
Supervision of employees to ensure quality and productivity within the department
Management of technical research and application of US GAAP measures to accounting issues
Resolving complex accounting issues occurring in the investments
Professional staff development, including performance management and training
Required Qualifications:
Licensed CPA
MBA Degree preferred
Minimum 10 years experience from accounting/public accounting
Partnership accounting experience
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite)
Management experience in a complex and challenging environment with a proven track record of leadership and employee development
Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting issues occurring within the investments, timely and accurately
Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment
Review of schedules for external auditors and internal tax schedules
Demonstrated ability to build business relationships with other business areas
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
