Pharmacy Technician - Tech II Front End
The CVS® team consists of more than 140,000 dedicated people working in our stores, regional offices, distribution centers, and headquarters in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The first CVS store opened under the name "Consumer Value Store." Since then, we have become more popularly known as CVS, but our focus on providing value to our customers has remained our hallmark.
This position is responsible for accurately reading, interpreting and entering prescriptions into the computer system in a timely fashion. Technicians are responsible for routing questionable prescriptions to the pharmacist for completion. Responsible for making outbound calls / faxing the physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions, and formulary changes. Must be able to resolve and enter incomplete prescriptions after clarification is obtained. Complete appropriate described patient letter. Operates keyboard and computer screen to enter patient and prescription information. May perform other pharmacy functions as required.
Must be adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications. Excellent Customer Service skills, primarily over the phone. Must have rapid keyboarding skills while maintaining 100% accuracy. Must be able to meet specified production and quality standards as defined by the management team. Must also be able to recognize and identify commonly used generic drugs and the route of administration of these drugs. General knowledge of commonly used generic drugs. Must have the ability to understand and interpret Latin symbols commonly used on prescriptions medications and have the ability to write routine correspondence. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This includes the ability to calculate dosages and days supply prescriptions.
Must be flexible and enjoy working in a fast pace, team oriented environment
National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPht) strongly preferred
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Clinical Licensure Required
