Description: Database Analyst / Application Developer
This challenging opportunity is for highly motivated individuals who will support our custom databases and ensure that all data is integrated into our applications smoothly and that data issues are addressed and resolved quickly using programming tools within SQL Server. This position also requires the ability to work within Crystal Reports to develop and design custom reports for our databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Proactive monitoring of production SQL infrastructure environment to ensure continued availability of the database services.
· Completing maintenance and support actions for the production Windows servers running SQL services.
· Developing processes to increase efficiency and automate regular maintenance of support actions.
· Write reports using Crystal Reports and SQL Report Services for our tracking and billing application.
· Provide on-call support.
· Identifying and resolving problems with the production SQL environment.
· Provide 2nd level SQL support to Help Desk personnel
· Assist Infrastructure team with testing and implementation of new software releases.
· Deploy software for service packs or emergency security patches.
· Manage the daily SQL DBA tasks including creating user logins, scheduling backups, scheduling and optimizing stored procedures and triggers.
· Investigate data quality issues within the database as well as raw data sources and re-run imports as necessary with the appropriate modifications
· Document all data integration methods when implemented.
· Attend meetings for the purpose of requirement gathering, doing in depth analysis of those requirements, define the project scope, design the system, and prepare specifications for development.
· Be responsible for additional duties related to the development and operation of our Database Systems, as required by management.
Requirements
- Proficiency and knowledge of MS SQL server 2005, 2008.
- Proficiency and knowledge of Power Builder ver 11.50.
- Proficiency and knowledge of Crystal Reports.
- Ability to write stored procedures and triggers, and create custom views and functions.
- Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports, SQL 2005, and SQL 2008 reporting services).
- Experience with SQL Reporting Services administration and report creation
- Proficient with system performance measuring and monitoring.
- Experience with Crystal Report Server
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
- Preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 3 – 5 years of work experience in field recommended.
