About The Position:
We are seeking an experienced software engineer who is passionate about writing solid code, and dedicated to continually improving and learning as the technology landscape evolves. You should be comfortable writing complicated server-side code using a variety of technologies, and capable of debugging frustrating mysteries with the tool of your choice. We work with cool technologies here and tackle interesting problems, so you'll have the satisfaction of working in an intellectually challenging and rewarding environment. You should also be ready to join a fast-paced, agile team, dedicated to smart architecture, elegant design, and continual forward progress. Our current server application landscape is written in roughly 90% PHP and 10% Java, so you should be prepared to work in a primarily PHP environment.
Requirements
Required Skills
* Expert level software engineering background. Understand design patterns and good OO practices. Understand Big O notation. Be able to think in code.
* Passion for writing scalable code, and refactoring where necessary, but balanced with maturity to leave well enough alone when relative importance is low.
* Ability to work well as part of a team. We all watch each others' backs here -- no hired guns!
* Confidence in your ability to smash any bug, improve any algorithm, and implement any design
Bonus Points
* Advanced understanding of PHP
* Experience using distributed caches like Memcached
* Experience working in a *nix environment.
* Strong database skills. PostgreSQL experience is ++.
* AWS experience
* Experience with remote debugging
