We currently have the following opportunity available for a Research Chemist specializing in skin care applications and new product development in our Noveon Consumer Specialties business unit. This position isat our Brecksville, Ohio facility located south of Clevelandadjacent tothe Cuyahoga Valley National Park and near museums, entertainment, educational, and medical institutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Formulation, new product application development and assessment of polymer technology used in a variety of skin care applications. Ensure physical stability, efficacy, consumer appeal, processing capabilities and cost effectiveness.
  • Interface with the synthesis and applications teams to exchange ideas between the groups.
  • Correlate structure-function relationships of polymers in formulations to provide direction in new polymer development.
  • Deliver projects/programs in accordance with agreed upon deadlines.
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing functions through application development efforts and customer-directed research projects.
  • Anticipate, determine and understand customer needs, expectations and market trends in order to apply Noveon Consumer Specialties product technologies to satisfymarket requirements.
  • Manage concurrent multiple development projects.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive products and applications, technical developments in related fields of science and market trends as they relate to personal care products.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal as well as external customers.
  • Provide written monthly reports and regularly communicate project status and timelines to management team.


  • Job Requirements

    SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's or higher level degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of personal care formulating experience.
  • Anticipate, identify and effectively assess issues/situations, gather data and background information, analyze information and determine steps for solution.
  • Ability to generate new and creative approaches to new product development and problem solving; flexible thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects, set objectives and identify resources/processes necessary to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to interpret and translate experimental results.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated towards goals and achievements.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Exhibit excellent organization and planning skills; manage time effectively.

    CONSIDERED A PLUS:
  • PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering.
  • Desire strong experience/knowledge in skin care formulations through product development experience on the bench and contact with product manufacturers or key raw material suppliers.
  • Previous supervisory experience.


    SALARY RANGE: $66,500 to $102,000
    BONUS ELIGIBLE
    DOMESTIC RELOCATION AVAILABLE
