Job Requirements:
The Senior Windows System Administrator is responsible for server maintenance, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining hardware/software, and other activities as related to system administration to ensure the availability and functionality of the production of systems. Work is accomplished according to established priorities and procedures. Performs team activities, completes the technical assignments, and takes appropriate action to ensure that PC and server-based systems schedules are met.
Performs application-related system administration functions and responds to user requests for server hardware, peripheral equipment and software support. Performs hardware diagnostics, repair and maintenance in conjunction with the current server contract. Plans and installs new software; performs software migrations and upgrades in accordance with established procedures. Ensures adherence to software standards and licensing. Manages the Active Directory forest and domain environments including users, groups, printers, login scripts, etc. Manages the server cluster environment including configuration, shares and permissions. Develops backup and recovery procedures for recovery from loss and destruction of data. Defines and/or administers the backup and recovery schedules and procedures including software installation and node management. Maintains and updates a variety of images of base server configuration. Configures new servers or rebuild servers in accordance with established procedures. Participates in the creation, approval, testing and execution of scheduled Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). Configure servers and perform tests based on pre-established test plans.
Maintains security configurations for servers and images; reviews and recommends monthly releases of Microsoft patches. Schedules and performs monthly patches in accordance with established policies and procedures. Schedules and performs monthly scanning of servers; manages and reports on internet usage and sites visited in accordance with established procedures.
Monitors and evaluates system performance for proper system operation using performance and capacity management software. Applies configuration management disciplines to formally document and control the system administration aspects of software during its life cycle. Draws upon the technical expertise of other system administration staff, trains other contractor staff and provides a knowledge transfer to client staff, as required. Reviews and updates related documentation on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Microsoft Windows Server support
- 3+ years of Active Directory support
- 2+ years of IIS and/or Apache Windows Administration
- 1+ years of Scripting
