Description
COLFAX CORPORATION is a global leader in innovative flow control solutions for a wide variety of defense, marine, and industrial customers throughout the world. We have an immediate opening for a Sales Manager, Valves & Controls to be primarily involved with outside sales for the defense industry with additional duties that are also expected to encompass the general maritime industry. The position is projected to be home based in the Philadelphia or Norfolk area and will manage all defense sales and proposals for Valve and Control products with a domestic and global scope of responsibility. The position will also work out of various business units as required and reports to the Director of Defense Sales & Marketing for Engineered Solutions.
SUMMARY
Develops and manages sales activities predominantly with prospective and existing U.S. Navy customer accounts and will include international maritime valve sales in the near future. Responsible for the sale of defense industry valves, controls and related systems. Ensures customers are informed of new and existing products, features and benefits, prices available, support systems and services. Meet established sales quotas with major accounts whose requirements may be complex, technical, and have long-term completion. Compensation is a combination of base salary and commission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ø Calls on management representatives such as engineers, architects, or other professional and technical personnel at defense/naval establishments to influence prospective clients of desirability and practicability of products or services offered.
- Identifies, penetrates and closes new and existing defense products and business opportunities
- Builds relationships and networks with new clients and within existing client organizations.
- Manage customer accounts with regular visits and contact
- Maintain considerable emphasis and develop relationships with Navy program offices to drive future demand for our products
- Prepare and deliver presentations to key customers and prospects
- Promote all Colfax Defense products and brands
- Perform outside sales with some inside duties as required
- Responsible for compliance with ITAR and other government regulations
- Coordinate activity with other departments (Engineering, purchasing, production) to support contract requirements and delivery dates
- Coordinate defense proposals to include Global Navy Sales staff
- Represent Company at trade associations and shows
- Prepare reports and updates on activity in area of responsibility
- Operate independently with remote supervision located in Warren, MA
- Support local operations to meet monthly shipments, planning and collections
- Ensure technical services are provided to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment
- Investigates and resolves customer problems as required
- Review technical information and documents in all necessary capacities such as quotes on products, prices and terms & conditions based on established standards

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) required, preferably in Engineering or business
- Five or more year’s related experience in defense sales is required, U.S. Navy preferred
- Prior experience with the US Navy, Defense Shipyards and defense suppliers is mandatory
- Knowledge of the industrial maritime industry a plus
- Experience with Valves, Controls, or other fluid control devices are mandatory
- Computer literacy a must – Familiarity with Microsoft to perform word processing, develops & utilizes spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and database software
- Must be able to develop and present written and graphical presentations and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
· U.S. citizenship required: Must be able to attain a security clearance and have the ability to learn security, safety, and environmental protocols for use as specified by Colfax, customers (for entry to their properties) and when included in solicitations, contract specifications and codes
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence, technical procedures, diagrams, or governmental regulations and be able to write reports and procedure manuals
- Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time and a valid driver’s license is necessary
- Ability to physically maneuver in and around naval ships and shipyards. Specific vision abilities needed
- Ability to work with mathematical engineering concepts
