Central Supply

 

The Buckingham, a resort-style, continuing-care retirement community is seeking a full-time Central Supply Medical Records Technicianperson to perform clerical and receptionist  duties and to maintain clinical records in support of a nursing unit.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

       

    • Transcribes and transmits all physician orders to appropriate areas.

       

       

    • Schedules diagnostic testing for residents per physician orders.

       

       

    • Answers telephone and intercom; if applicable, takes and relays messages to appropriate person. Receives and delivers mail to the appropriate area.

       

       

    • Assists residents and visitors in nursing unit as needed. Maintains records as needed.

       

       

    • Performs clerical duties related to admission and discharge of residents.

       

       

    • Orders supplies and equipment, receives and places items in proper storage area.

       

       

    • Compiles new charts, maintains current charts, and assembles discharged charts in proper order.

       

       

    • Prepares all medical records for closure, physician signature and completion of discharge summary.

       

       

    • Arranges ambulance transports and maintains transport log.

       

       

    • Prepares identification labels for residents as appropriate.

       

       

    • Supplies adequate ancillary charge records for residents.

       

       

    • Attends in-service training and departmental meetings.

       

       

    • Abides by established facility and departmental policies including maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.

       

       

    • Performs general typing, filing and posting to records.

       

       

    • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

 Educational Requirements and Experience:

 

       

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent

       

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

         

      • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.

         

         

      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

         

         

      • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

         

         

      • Mathematical Skills:

         

         

      • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

         

         

      • Cognitive Demands:

         

         

      • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

         

         

      • Computer Skills:

         

         

      • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.

         

         

      • Competencies:

         

         

      • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.

         

         

      • Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.

         

         

      • Responds promptly to resident and visitor needs.

         

         

      • Responds to requests for service and assistance.

         

         

      • Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time;

         

         

      • Supports organization's goals and values.

         

         

      • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
