Description
Tax Compliance Analyst needed for a one year contract position with a Federal government agency.
Experienced Tax Compliance Analyst who has demonstrated experience designing and implementing business processes to comply with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations in a large accounts payable operation. Specific assistance is required in implementing processes required to comply with section 3402 (t) of the IRS code. The proposed regulations reflect changes in the law made by the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconcilation Act of 2005 that requires Federal, State, and local goverment entities to withhold income tax when making payments to persons providing property or services.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of the setup and use of tax compliance, reporting, and payment in a Finance and Accounting Department of a large retailer.
Must be able to reverse engineer current processes to determine the most efficient methods of problem solving.
Must have good documentation skills.
Must have ability to interpret user request and requirements.
Must also have strong mentoring skills to assist others on the team.
Complete Design and Analysis, issue tracking and gathering end user requirements for withholding under section 3402(t).
Other effort associated with Accounts Payable IRS compliance matters.
Assist in usage of Analysis and compliance techniques and strategies
Demonstrated ability to mentor/teach others to transfer knowledge
Ability to develop annual budget and track personnel and non-personnel expenditures against budget estimates; perform in-depth analyses of budget requests; and ability to justify and defend budget proposals.
Ability to communicate effectively
Requirements
5+ years of directly related experience with accounts payable and IRS tax compliance, or Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the position and two (2) years of experience in a related occupation applying U.S. tax laws to daily tax compliance responsibilities including client tax reporting, documentation, withholding & information reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation and regulatory compliance.
Experience using automated office systems and software programs.
Must possess: strong organizational and analytical skills, ability to plan effectively and work independently on multiple tasks within short time frame.
Expected start date for this position is November 9, 2009.
Salary will be based on experience.
