Description
Job Summary: The focus of the Underwriting Manager is to analyze high risk applicants and business types, as well as manage the underwriting staff of up to 10 individuals. The ideal candidate must be qualified, motivated and an experienced senior underwriter that reviews, analyzes and makes confident decisions up to $1,000,000, as well as uses exceptional managerial skills for communicating with and motivating a team.
Responsibilities to Include:
· Analyze a wide variety of applicants and business types for high risk cash advances;
· Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, management, vendors, sales agents, and merchants;
· Ability to manage and adapt workflow and staffing for peak periods to ensure consistency of service levels 24/7;
· Flexibility required to work extended shifts at anytime volume spikes (or short staffing) dictates, plus the week of “month end" every month without exception, as well as any weekend of any month where the last 1-2 calendar days intersects with month-end;
· Flexibility to support the staff and/or executives in a diverse and demanding environment;
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle combination of relationships with applicants, internal staff and external customers (agents, vendors and key business partners relationships);
· Must be comfortable and confident in handling a position of authority, as well as executing accurate judgment in managing underwriting staff;
· Coaching and developing team members; identifying promotion and growth opportunities for staff; executing progressive discipline.
Requirements
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Business or Finance (or equivalent work experience) required
Masters Degree in a Finance related field preferred
Position Requirements:
· Must be able to flex work schedule to needs of the department
· Minimum 5 years senior underwriting experience
· Minimum 2 years of managing a staff of 10 or more
