Home Health Aides (HHA)- 3 to 6 hour afternoon shifts

BrightStar Healthcare is seeking highly motivated and compassionate  Home Health Aides in the St. Paul area who have at least 1 year of current experience providing direct care to children and/or  seniors.  We are currently seeking applicants for all shifts, however, we have immediate shifts available for mid-afternoon to early even, ing.    We offer competitive pay and benefits, including weekly pay and direct deposit.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides daily routine care such as bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding
• Assists patients in active and passive range of motion, transferring, walking and turning
• Converse with patients to provide assurance
• Ability to follow written Nursing Care Plan
• May provide patient transportation to doctor appointments, outside activities and shopping
• Provides patient laundry and linen changes
• Light housekeeping
• Provides medication reminders
• Provides medical follow up with exercise regime
• Meal preparation, and clean up

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
MN State Nursing Registry, preferred.
Evidence of completion of Home Health Care Training course    

1 year of current experience as a HHA 

Current CPR certification.

Current 2 step Mantoux reading.
 

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within  the home health care  field.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to follow and understand a written care plan, as required by BrightStar guidelines.  Ability to respond professionally and appropriately on behalf of BrightStar.

 

Ability to verbally communicate with patients with a  variety of backgrounds.

BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
Requires the ability to prioritize and complete work on time, be detail-oriented, exhibit a service orientation to clients and be team player with a positive attitude. Requires solid organizational skills, thoroughness and multi-tasking, including an exceptional on-time record for reporting for assignments.  . Requires good interpersonal skills and exhibits a service orientation towards others. Must have the ability to demonstrate solid judgment about patient care. Must also demonstrate a sense of understanding and urgency for priorities. Requires the ability to appropriately troubleshoot and escalate where necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Successful candidate must submit to  pre-employment physical examination/medical history check, drug screening and background check and have a current CPR certification.
• Required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening. Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior home environment.
