Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising the employees assigned to the Collections team.  Ensures SAFE meets its delinquency and charge off goals by practicing prudent collection efforts.  Ensure SAFE is in compliance with all State and Federal compliance requirements related to collections.     

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage the office operation in the AVP/Collection and Insurance Manager’s absence.

  • Supervise the employees assigned to the Collections team.  Develop and track goals for the team and for each employee.  Provide coaching as applicable. 

  • Develop and conduct an annual performance review on each employee by the assigned due dates.

  • Assist with developing the annual budget for all income and expense accounts assigned to the Collections team.  Manage the team within the approved budget.

  • Maintain awareness of all State and Federal compliance requirements related to the collection of accounts.  Implement changes as applicable.

  • Manage all vendor relationships (repossession companies, CUNA, attorneys, etc.) to ensure their results support the objectives of the team (turnaround times, etc.).

  • Manage all processes associated with the collection effort (bankruptcy, judgments, recoveries, etc.) to ensure they are efficient and cost effective.

  • Become proficient with the Summit and Akcelerant System.

  • Promptly resolve issues related to members and other internal customers.   

  • Recommend new products/programs to support the collection functions.  Act as project manager to implement new collection products and/or process improvements.  

  • Complete other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises employees in the Collections Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE                                                    

Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS                                              

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS                                               

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY                                                      

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

 

 

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Previous Spectrum experience preferred.
