Description

As a  Mechanical Engineering Manager of this global medical device company you will work with cross-functional teams through all phases of product design and development from initial concepts through the FDA approval to the product launch to deliver cutting edge medical products.   You will be responsible for resource allocation, technical oversight, and professional development of the mechanical engineering team.  
Deliver products that meet or exceed customer requirements on-time and on-budget through effective planning and risk mitigation.  Create a high performance/accountability based culture among development teams while working to eliminate any obstacles that may possibly hinder the team’s ability to develop and launch new products. 


Must have the ability to be an effective contributor to the Global Product Development Resources Team to accelerate new product development while still keeping a focus on producing a high quality issue free product line.  Utilize and integrate all of the resources within the cross functional team for non-core development activities.

Provide Project Leadership

    o    Effectively direct (and potentially lead) the work of other engineers and laboratory 
          technicians to achieve objectives as necessary

    o    Identify, break down and solve complex problems, and provide technical direction to 
          others

    o    Independently plan and execute to achieve design and development objectives

    o    Participate as a member of a cross-functional team or lead a cross-functional team to
          deliver to business-critical product development commitments


Impact Project Execution

    o    Using expert technical skills, conceive, plan and lead development activities 
           from concept through successful commercialization

    o    Leverage understanding of first engineering principles, advanced engineering methods, 
           data and judgment to influence the course of product development activities

    o    Develops deep customer understanding and identifies unmet needs and potential      
           new product concepts

    o    Ensure compliance with company  quality policies, procedures and practices as well as 
           with all local, state, federal and internal safety regulations, policies and procedures


Required Education and Skills:

Education

    • MS degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant 
       experience, and/or PhD degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with at least 2 
       years of relevant experience.  Experience in product development life cycle essential.



Skills

    • Tolerance analysis

    • Innovative and Brainstorming with strong technical judgment

    • Medical device experience a plus but not necessary

    • Packaging experience a plus

    • Understanding of disciplined product development processes and quality requirements,
       regulatory a plus

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills; Results driven and action 
      oriented
