The Director, Affordable Housing Development will be responsible for managing predevelopment, development, initial closing, construction, and final closing to accomplish the goals of the Affordable Housing Development Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for key functions to include, analyze communities for acceptable development; determine housing need through census data and community research; research and organize information regarding funding sources; analyze financial feasibility, direct appraiser, surveyor and cost analysts to secure necessary documentation for Firm Application package; analyze and review the prepared plans and specifications for compliance with the organization’s design standards; provide direction to attorney/contractor/architect on preparation of initial closing documents and contracts; provide direction and guidance for transition from development to management; direct attorney on preparation of final closing documents.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required. Candidates with real estate/construction office experience preferred; knowledge of HUD regulations/procedures/project management preferred. Excellent organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to work flexible hours and ability to travel is required.
