Description

A national behavioral healthcare company located in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Accountant I and Accountant II for a direct hire opportunity. 

ACCOUNTANT I General Summary:

Participates in all accounting aspects of the Fixed Asset area , participating in the monthly close process including journal entries and all financial review and reporting activities, bank, and general ledger reconciliations. Records all fixed asset activity and provides support for the Service Centers including issuing annual inventory statements.  This position processes the annual personal property tax filings for the entire company.  Completes monthly lag reports to analyze medical claims payments trends for ASO clients.  Responsible for scanning and indexing bank recs., filing and copying documents

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  

1.   Review and approval of accounts payable coding for all capital expenditures.     

2.   Processing of all asset addition packages, transfers and disposals.  Key all asset activity into the GBA Fixed Asset System.

3.   Monthly close process and all related journal entries for Fixed Asset area.

4.   Completion of general ledger account reconciliations for all Fixed Asset & CIP accounts.

5.   Completion of bank reconciliations for assigned risk accounts. Includes scanning and indexing of approved bank recons.

6.   Monthly completion of IBNR Reporting in order to analyze monthly claims payment trends for assigned ASO clients.

7.   Annual filing of the business personal property tax reports for the entire company.

8.   Responsible for the completion of all fixed asset schedules included in the quarterly and annual Tax Package.  Assist Tax Department staff with inquiries pertaining to asset details.

9.   Ad hoc reporting needs (miscellaneous reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and audit schedules).

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  

·         Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent, combination of training and experience which provides the required skills ).

·         Relevant Work Experience:  Three (3) years experience in GL account reconciliations and bank reconciliations required.   Fixed Assets experience a plus.


ACCOUNTANT II General Summary:


Participates in all accounting aspects of the General Ledger, participating in the monthly close process including journal entries and all financial review and reporting activities and support for assigned sites, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations as assigned.  Responsible for scanning and indexing bank reconciliations.  Ad hoc reporting and analysis projects completed as assigned.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.   Participate in analysis projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned.

2.   Bank account reconciliations and review and approval of accounts payable for assigned sites.     

3.   Monthly close process and all related journal entries, lag analysis (if applies), and  participation in follow-up monthly operation report meetings.

4.   Balance sheet reconciliations for assigned sites.

5.   Ad hoc reporting needs (miscellaneous reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, tax and audit schedules).

6.   Completion of unclaimed property follow-up for assigned bank reconciliations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

· Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent , such as having a degree in a different area and having taken all basic accounting courses towards a bachelor’s degree, having a CPA without an accounting degree, or a Finance degree with a significant number of accounting courses).                        

· Licensures:  CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

· Relevant Work Experience:  Four years experience in a computerized accounting environment with strong financial analytical skills is required, experience with healthcare and/or corporate accounting preferred.
