Job Description

Summary
Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  Other duties may be assigned.  

  • Supervises the activities of the assigned departmental supervisors.  
  • Directs supervisors with respect to production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules.  
  • Confers with the Operations Manager and the Production Planner to establish working schedules for all departments connected with production.  
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.  
  • Maintains good employee relations.  
  • Monitors safety activity. 
  • Attains recordable and lost time goals. 
  • Operates in compliance with all plant and OSHA requirements.  
  • Ensures the scheduled monthly safety training is being conducted.  
  • Reviews yields variance and productivity reports on a daily baiss and reports to Plant Manager any and all negative variances, along with corrective action.  
  • Ensures activity on all shifts is in accordance with company and plant policies, procedures, standards, specifications and philosophies.  
  • Coordinates equipment and facility maintenance with Maintenance Department.  
  • Works with Human Resources to ensure plant is fully staffed at all times and promptly communicates any vacancies.
  • Leads teams and applies root cause analysis to put in place corrective measures to any and all production opportunities.  
  • Provides leadership for all supervisors and ensures they perform to their potential and work together to achieve departmental requirements and goals.  
  • Approves all personnel changes within area of responsibility.  
  • Works with supervisors to reduce employee concerns and promotes a spirit of cooperation and among team members and between company and team members.  
  • Monitors departmental activities and takes corrective action as needed.  
  • Insures USDA requests and requirements are addressed and followed within compliance. 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                   
Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 170 employees in the Evisceration, Cutup, Trim and Raw Pack. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.     



Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.    
  • Previous Supervisory experience required.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • Teamwork, communication skills and coaching required.
  • Manufacturing/Production, processing experience is preferred especially in the food processing industry or simliar industry.
  • Bilingual in English with Spanish, Laotian, or Vietnamese is highly sought after.
