JOB GOAL: Provide information and financial assistance to members who have delinquent accounts and to minimize the losses on these accounts.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform collection efforts on delinquent and deficient accounts
  • Completes refinances and extension agreements
  • Use skip tracing techniques to research delinquent accounts
  • Contribute to the team effort
  • Meets collection goals as set forth by Collections Manager
  • Comply with Chapter 7 & 13bankruptcy laws, and fair debt laws
  • Comply with RFCU guidelines in accordance with loan policies.
  • Accomplish special projects assigned by Collections Manager

JOB EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months collections experience or Vocational degree equivalent
  • Federal Regulation Z (BTCC Online Course)
  • Federal Regulation CC (BTCC Online Course)

  

JOB PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge in Computer Literacy
  • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and cope with interdepartmental nature of the position
  • Knowledge of laws governing collection of delinquent accounts
  • Capability of designing budgets and developing payment schedules
  • Overall knowledge of Credit Union operations
  • Knowledge of loan policies and all forms and agreements pertaining to loans
  • Knowledge of regulations governing Chapter 7 or 13 Bankruptcies
  • Knowledge of skip tracing procedures
  • Demonstrate initiative; dependability; positive attitude; good attendance record and team work Accomplish duties to achieve desired results


Physical demands of this position:

  • The job is sedentary no lifting of objects in excess of 20 lbs.

  

Mental/Emotional demands of this position:

  • The position is often stressful due to the nature of the work; employees must maintain self-composure and work effectively when dealing with disgruntled, emotionally distressed and abusive members.
