Job Description:
The Emergency Department Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for directing and coordinating the Emergency Department in a manner reflective of the Hospital's philosophy. The Level III Emergency Department serves southern New Mexico 24 hours/day, 365 days/year. The ED has 10 multipurpose beds and a six-bed overflow unit for less emergent patients. Serves as the Nurse Administrator on-call (as necessary) to provide leadership and management to personnel during the off hours. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Supervises 44 FTE’s
· Monitors adherence and quality improvement to current standards of practice
· Develops and coordinates the financial management for department
· Establishes and maintains active involvement with appropriate medical staff departments and community groups
· Applies concepts of customer relations and advocacy
· Follows and enforces accepted safety practices for patients and hospital by observing safety guidelines and safe work practices, participates in safety instructional programs

Requirements
Qualified Candidates Must Have:
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (MSN or masters in related field preferred)
· RN
· BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
· Two years supervisory experience
· At least three years of clinical nursing experience
· Ability to work some overtime hours
