Description

Family Development Services manages the Head Start and Early Head Start educational programs in Marion and Hamilton counties in Central Indiana. We plant the seeds of future success for more than 2,000 children and their families each year by providing a head start in socialization and school preparedness skills, as well as a range of family social services.

 

Responsibilities of the Family / Child Educator (Lead Teacher)

 

  • Plan and implement developmentally and age appropriate classroom activities for our Head Start children

 

  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment for our children

 

  • Have a demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and follow established curriculum and standard operating procedures

 

  • Communicate with parents regularly about their child’s progress
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education;
  • Or a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education or related degree (such as Family / Consumer Sciences) with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood related courses
