Description

Our client, a Fortune 500 company is developing advanced technology propulsion systems to power future commercial transport applications, is looking for an experienced Nacelle Mechanical Design Technical Fellow to develop advanced nacelle concepts for application on advanced engine applications. 

The position requires an experienced but creative thinker to develop new mechanical concepts, assess mechanical feasibility and complete trade studies to assess improvements in technical metrics, especially weight, manufacturing and maintenance costs.  Knowledge of current and advanced nacelle manufacturing processes is a plus.  Developments of advanced design features are to include nacelle, engine mounts, pylon and associated systems. The position will be a major contributor to the achievement of company objectives through realization of project viability with creative concepts to meet propulsion system installation mechanical design challenges.

 

Requirements

Required to have a minimum of 15 years experience managing commercial and/or technical aspects of nacelle and pylon installation design projects related to commercial aerospace products.

Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
 
Must have experience and knowledge of nacelles, pylons, engine mounts and propulsions systems installation on commercial aircraft.

Knowledge of aerospace industry standard mechanical design practices and installation principle standards is required.

A thorough knowledge of the principles relating to the design and operation of gas turbine engines and related propulsion systems is required. The ability to apply these principles to the direction of other disciplines and to direct people of lesser experience in the performance of discipline engineering assignments relative to the support of complex propulsion system projects.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of an engineering team is required. Ability to converse and interact with other disciplines including specialists from aerodynamics, engine systems, structural analysis and gas turbine performance.  

Must have experience leading the creation of technical scope descriptions and recommendations during new product proposal development.

Prior experience with computer aided design (either CATIA or Unigraphics) is required.

A high productivity level, a sense of urgency, good business judgment, and a customer-focused approach are required.

Self-motivated, strong aptitude and demonstrated track record in the design and installation of propulsion systems relating specifically to nacelles, pylons, and engine mounts.

Position requires 10% travel to domestic and international locations.
