Job Summary:  Provides geriatric residents with daily nursing care in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulations as directed by supervisors.

Position  Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

• Provides personal care to meet the physical and psycho social needs of each individual resident according to care plan as indicated on assignment sheets (toileting/bathing/dressing/ changing/nutritional needs, etc.).
• Assists and encourages residents to participate in social activities.
• Assists residents with meals, including preparation before meals, ensuring proper diet is being offered, encouraging fluid intake, assisting with feeding, documenting intake and assisting residents to and from dining room.
• Promotes resident rights and ensures each resident is treated as an individual with privacy, dignity, and respect, and that confidentiality is maintained.
• Reports all changes in resident’s condition to the Staff Nurse on duty to ensure professional assessments.
• Assists in maintaining an accurate record keeping system for all needs, cares, and outcome.
• Carries out admission, discharge, and transfer functions according to individual policies and as instructed by nurse on duty, i.e., call light instructions are given, personal possessions are marked, and assistance with packing/unpacking are provided.
• Assists with lifting, turning, moving, repositioning, and transporting of residents from one position or area to another using proper procedures.

Essential Requirements & Education :

• Must be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.

• Current BLS certification.

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Strong interpersonal human relations skills.

Skills & Knowledge :

• Ability to perform duties in a caring manner
