POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Communications Officer II, you will develop, implement, support, and coordinate a comprehensive public affairs and communications program that supports the strategic plan for the judicial department. This position also supports legislative activities, as assigned by the Administrative Director and Deputy Director. Duties include news media relations, public activities and public education events and programs of the Supreme Court, providing legislative updates and other relevant information to judges and employees of the Judicial Branch. The Communications Officer will handle special projects for the Administrative Director, Deputy Director and Chief Justice.

 

Other duties include: acts as Court spokesperson in highly sensitive or complex matters related to the administration of the judicial system; prepares materials, speeches, press releases, and PowerPoint presentations as needed for the Chief Justice’s public appearances; collaborates on joint projects with the Public Information Officers of other courts, other government agencies, and the State Bar; works to increase public understanding of the role of the judicial system and the importance of its constitutional duties.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Journalism, Political Science or a related field and five years of responsible public relations or public information experience. Ability to work as a member of a team to develop and implement a comprehensive and effective public and media relations program. Superior writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to produce written documents and prepare clear and concise reports and press releases; and to present material to groups and on camera.

 

Travel level: negligible.
