Steel Buyer

We are one of the industry's leading automotive metal stamping and welding component manufacturing companies. We are currently seeking a steel buyer to analyze the steel market for the most competitive price and quality for purchases.  The general responsibilities of this position include:

• Oversee spot buys and material releases for all facilities
• Follow up and tracking performance of suppliers
• Determine market price through analysis
• Negotiate and deal with a variety of suppliers on a daily basis
• Handle and maintain resale programs
• Review requisitions
• Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items
• Estimate values according to knowledge of market price
• Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid
• Prepare purchase orders or bid requests
• Review bid proposals and negotiates contracts
• Maintain procurement records
• Discuss defective goods and takes corrective action
• Maintain MSA files, electronic & paper support
• MRO purchasing functions

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field along with 3-5 years experience in purchasing and materials. The selected candidate must be results oriented and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong computer skills are required including QAD and Microsoft Office applications.
