ioko’s Senior Project / Programme Managers are hands-on professional, client-facing project managers, capable of managing the end-to-end delivery of large application development projects across the whole lifecycle from inception through to delivery and on-going maintenance.
ioko Senior Project / Programme Managers have a track record of smoothly delivering complex and challenging application development projects of value in excess of $3m+ (services).
Our Senior Project / Programme Managers are technology, people and delivery oriented. They work closely with the customer (large blue-chips) and manage large development teams to design, build and deliver technically complex (often bleeding-edge) applications to date, specification, budget and quality.
Our Senior Project / Programme Managers are passionate, vocational and hands-on. They are the heartbeat of our delivery capability.
Ideal Candidate:
Candidates must have a successful career in the delivery of large “enterprise size" application development projects and programmes to major US corporations. You will have led the solution definition and delivery of sophisticated web based B2C systems involving considerable custom code development. You will have carried full project and programme accountability and will have carried C level management engagement responsibility. You will be confident, collaborative, flexible and commercially oriented. You will be vocational in your career having started out as a software engineer rising to technical leader and then onto project and programme management and picking up major client engagement responsibility. Throughout your career you will have methodically broadened and deepened your skills and retained a significant knowledge of the “techy" bits and have a real passion for technology. You are used to leading challenging, demanding, complicated software development projects and you get results by being hands-on and detail oriented – you are always in the thick of the action and good at balancing what needs to happen day-to-day with the big picture.
You need to be able to reference half a dozen or so projects / programmes that show case your capabilities and suitability for our role.
We will give preference to candidates who can demonstrate loyalty to their employer over and above those who have “job hopped" every couple of years : we want to invest in you so we need you to invest in us.
Oh, and you need to be a sociable and friendly. We all work extremely hard to get great results for our clients but we do so in a friendly, open environment.
This particular vacancy is NOT SUITABLE for candidates with
- infrastructure management (network, servers, desktop, data centre)
- embedded / real time systems
- package (e.g. ERP) implementations
Travel: This position requires a minimum of 50% travel.
Responsibilities:
· Principal responsibility is the achievement of successful delivery of software development projects (to spec, time, budget and quality).
· Be a key relationship holder with client and project stakeholders gaining their confidence, commitment, collaboration and support for the project. Own the client relationship and drive the programme of activities needed for successful delivery including guiding and supporting the client on the planning and timely execution of their project responsibilities
· Materially shaping the project to get the maximum positive outcome, and really loving, caring and fretting about the results; that the business will like the application, that it can be easily supported and enhanced, etc.
· Ensuring all deliverables are built to the appropriate quality and personally reviewing all deliverables before delivery to client (even if the document is highly technical, the project manager should be giving it the ‘once over’ if only to check spelling, grammar and presentation)
· Specific ownership of the contractual arrangements and the requirements management and scope control process throughout the project
· Collaborating with software architects on what is best-practice and what would be most appropriate application development approach for this project e.g. the application development method, toolset, build and release, QA etc
