Description

SUMMARY

Performs refractory masonry work under supervision and act as assistant to masons.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for job set up including carrying material such as brick, motor and other materials onto the job sites.

  • Assist with the removal of refractory material with chipping guns and jackhammers.
  • Perform hole and fire watch duties as required.
  • Prepare material for installation for the mason such as mixing mortar and handing bricks.

  • Assist with running unite machinery during installation of refractory materials.

  • Basic masonry application including applying mortar to specific applications.

  • Responsible for general housekeeping duties at job site including repairing tools, maintaining job trailer, including organizing uniforms and safety supplies.
  • Position requires travel to job site including overnight stays. Some travel may require air travel.

  • Must have language skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must have mathematical skills. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and common fractions. Ability to computer rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
